Building tools to help you understand and reduce your microplastic consumption - because what you can't see can still hurt you

The Problem I'm Obsessed With

We consume about a credit card's worth of microplastics every week, but most people don't even know it. These tiny particles are in our water, food, and even the air we breathe. The scariest part? We don't fully understand their long-term impact on our health.

What We're Building

I'm developing an application that makes the invisible visible. By tracking and visualizing your daily microplastic exposure, we help you:

  • Understand your personal microplastic consumption patterns
  • Identify major sources in your daily routine
  • Make informed decisions to reduce your exposure
  • Track your progress over time

In development - Currently tracking water, food, and air exposure patterns

Your personal guide to understanding and reducing microplastic consumption. Because you can't manage what you don't measure.

Why This Matters for Canadians

As a country with the longest coastline in the world and one of the largest freshwater reserves, Canada has a unique responsibility in the fight against plastic pollution. But this isn't just an environmental issue – it's a public health concern that affects every Canadian:

  1. The average Canadian ingests thousands of microplastic particles annually
  2. Our water systems are increasingly contaminated
  3. Even our most remote wilderness areas show microplastic presence
  4. The health impacts are still largely unknown

Why I'm Building This with Tenfold

Victoria's location on the Pacific coast makes it the perfect place to develop solutions for environmental challenges. Our community here understands the importance of protecting our natural resources while building sustainable technology solutions.

I believe that by making the invisible visible, we can motivate real change in how people think about and interact with plastics in their daily lives. It's not about fear - it's about awareness and empowerment.
